About Tutela
An independent fiduciary, and the person behind it
Tutela Advisory Group is a New Jersey-based, SEC-registered investment adviser. We serve two communities that rarely share an adviser: institutions stewarding capital for a mission, and athletes and families protecting what they have built. We hold no proprietary products and take no custody of client assets.
The firm is led by Christopher J. Paul, CRPC, AAMS, APMA, its Founder and Managing Principal. A former collegiate athlete with a 12-year track record across wealth management and institutional investing, he built Tutela to strip away traditional financial industry friction.
The meaning of Tutela
The name is a promise
Tutela is Latin for guardianship and protection. In Roman law it described the duty to safeguard another person and their property with care and loyalty. It is the literal root of the fiduciary standard.
That standard asks one thing of a fiduciary: to place the client’s interest above its own. We engineered the firm around that single obligation. Every institutional mandate, every strategic recommendation, and every architecture we deploy answers to it.
